Infrastructure :

The department is well equipped with Professor room and faculty room. There are sufficient charts and department library with good number of books for quick reference.

Academic :

Teaching & learning process of Community medicine at undergraduate level provide the Disease knowledge, Preventive methods, Uses of Healthcare system of the Government. Department of Community medicine have lecture classes, practical classes and tutorials.The academic system provided the students necessary learning to face the challenges of life.

Awareness programes :

Students are involved in health programmes like Pulse polio immunization, AIDS awareness programmes, Nutritional awareness programmes, Breast feeding awareness programme and environmental health awareness programmes.

Educational visits :

As part of the curriculum, students visit Water purification plant and Milk dairy unit.

Peripheral Health Centres :

The department takes pride in spreading its service to cater to the health, nutrition and educational needs of patients in rural sectors. Staffs and Internees have been posted in Mallur Peripheral Health centre on every Thursday, where patients are examined and medicines are prescribed. In case of higher investigations the patients are referred to the college hospital. The department supervises all the peripheral health centers of the college.

Free Medical Camps :

Undergraduates participate actively in medical camps & PHC, this experience will encourage them to work in a rural environment in the future.

Voluntary Service :

Department of Community medicine adopted the village Sanaipalayam Panchayath. Department involves itself in all the awareness programmes in association with the NSS unit of the college.

CME/Seminar/Workshop/Conferences :

The department provides a wide opportunity to aspiring students to update their new innings. They are permitted to participate in various conferences and workshops to get wide exposure and knowledge. They actively participate in regular CME programme conducted by the college.

Infrastructure :

The department of forensic medicine is well equipped with a faculty room and a demonstration hall. There are sufficient number of charts, models and specimens.

There are good number of weapons displayed to demonstrate various types of injuries.

Department kept good number of poisons as specimens to teach the students about the effect of different poisons.

Department provides all the basic facilities required for the proper teaching of the subject.

Academic Activities:

Forensic medicne and toxicology being taught only in the second BHMS and there is examination at the end of second BHMS course.

The subject basically deals with the application of medical knowledge to aid in the administration of justice.

The purpose of Homoeopathic Pharmacy department is to train the students in manufacturing of quality Homoeopathic medicnes.

Infrastructure :

It has one of the best faculty and well equipped laboratory. Department has Professor Room and library. Department Laboratory is well equipped to train the students in the fundamentals and advanced methods in the manufacturing of Homoeopathic medicines.

Academic Activities:

The students learn Homoeopathic Pharmacy through lecture classes, demonstarions and practicals to develop experimental skill in the field. Students prepare Homoeopathic Mother tinctures, potencies, triturations & external applications.

Herbal Garden:

The department is maintaining 100 native herbal plants which are used in the preparation of Homoeopathic mother tinctures.

Industrial Visit:

The department is organising industrial visit for students to well known homoeopathic drug manufacturing companies in the country to upgrade their quality and to train them in GMP in the industry.

Herbarium:

The students visit and collect rare plants from CCRH research unit in Ooty.

Well furnished Department room, HOD room, Museum cum demonstration room, UG Discussion room and seminar hall with audio visual aids and computer.

Academic:

The department offers theoretical classes aimed at imparting knowledge in the characteristics of each homoeopathic medicine and its clinical application.

The second BHMS students have regular out patient and inpatient postings and clinical classes, the third and final year students have tutorialschedule where every student presenst a drug in detail.

Out Patient Department :

OPD is well equipped and spacious. Graduate students are encouraged to examine the patients,

In- Patient Department:

IPD is well equipped with necessary investigation facilities.

Free Medical Camp:

Every year the department conducts free medical camp at rural areas for the benefit of people who are economically poor. The patients are examined and prescribed for. Difficult cases are referred to the college OPD for further care.

Department Library:

Department library is well equipped with sufficient text books and other materials like question papers, journals, previous assignments.

Infrastructure :

Obstetrics and Gynaecology department is having a well furnished HOD room and a faculty room. There is a department library. There are sufficient number of charts, models, specimens and instruments. There is dummy model for demonstration of delivery.

Academic:

The subject emphasis on the diseases pertaining to the female organs and provides the knowledge of normal pregnancy and its related disorders. Students begin leaning the subject from second year and face the examinations at the end of third year. Lecture classes are being conducted with models, specimens, photographs, charts and Power-point presentations. Informations regarding clinical examinations procedures, investigations, Miasmatic interpretation and Homoeopathic therapeutics have been focused in the clinical classes. Learners have also get the opportunity to update their clinical aspects by attending wards and operation theatre's in Vinayaka Mission's Medical college. The practical information's gained during their course of study would definitely help them to become efficient practitioners.

Special Activities :

Family welfare activities are undertaken by the department during medical camps by emphasising on maternal and child health, Antenatal Care and the value of Homoeopathic medicines in pregnancy and labour.

The purpose of Homoeopathic Philosophy & Organon of medicine course is to train the basic Homoeopathic graduate in the field of Homoeopathic Philosophy & Organon of medicine to adapt the principles of Homoeopathy while treating the patients, thereby making them excellent professionals in Homoeopathy.

OPD, Medical Ward and Peripheral Health centers are catering the clinical needs of the undergraduate students. The UG students are exposed to learning Organon of medicine & Homoeopathic Philosophy through structured discussions, regular clinical classes and clinical exposure. The programme helps the students to develop skill in homoeopathic clinical practice. Teaching & learning process of Organon of medicine & Homoeopathic Philosophy at undergraduate level provide the art of diagnosis, investigation and treatment under experienced Physicians. The clinical classes are more oriented with skill formation and problem based learning. Internees are conducting and regularly attending clinical meeting & journal club. The academic system provided the students necessary learning to face the challenges of life.

Outpatient services :

The activities of the Organon of medicine & Homoeopathic Philosophy unit include Case taking, Diagnosing, ordering and collecting investigation reports, Prescription and follow up services. The community is benefited as consultation, basic investigation and treatment are provided by highly qualified and experienced faculty free of cost..

Inpatient Services :

Posting in wards enables an undergraduate student to evaluate, investigate and manage both acute and chronic cases. Services rendered in Inpatient department are free and as well as free food is provided for the patients.

Peripheral Health Centres :

The department takes pride in spreading its service to cater to the health, nutrition and educational needs of patients in rural sectors. Internees have been posted in Senaipalayam Peripheral Health Centre on every Thursday, where patients are examined and medicines are prescribed. In case of higher investigations the patients are referred to the college hospital.

Free Medical Camps :

Undergraduates participate actively in medical camps & PHC, this experience will encourage them to work in a rural environment in the future.

Internship Programme :

During one year compulsory internship programme interns get exposed to OPD and IPD and they learn the art of treating cases. In CRRI programme for 6 months students they get posted in homoeopathic hospital and the remaining 6 months they will be posted in various departments of vinayaka mission's medical college and hospital where they get exposed to wide variety of patients in the department of Dermatology, Surgery, Neurology, Orthopedics, Nephrology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Radiology etc. CRRI's are presenting and attending clinical meeting and journal clubs every week under the guidance of teachers in the department.

Pathology department is well furnished with the instruments like Hot Air Oven, Incubator, Auto clave, Haemometer, Haemocytometer, Water bath, Centrifuge, Microscopes, apparatus & Culture media.

Department teaches general & systemic pathology and microbiology (Bacteriology, Virology, parasitology) through theoretical and practical classes.

Pathology department has Laboratory & Museum. Pathology specimen are demonstrated to the students. Students perform Blood Routine, Bio-Chemistry, Urine Analysis, Stool examination and staining methods.

Infrastructure :

Department of physiology and biochemistry is well equipped with good infrastructure. Laboratory and class rooms are well ventillated

Academic:

Department has sufficient charts, specimen in museum and department library

Department conducts theory classes, practicals and seminar for regular students, additionally tutorial are conducted for supplementary students.

Department conducts practicals in haematology, clinical physiology and muscle physiology. Students maintain the practical records.

There are quantitative and qualitative analysis in biochemistry practicals. Students maintain separate biochemistry record note.

Department conducts periodical monthly tests and give assignments on regular basis.

Department has regular interactions with other first year departments

Academic:

The subject is taught through out second, third and fourth BHMS. Department teach the subject with the true spirit of clinical diagnisis in every patient at the same time integrating the concept of medicinal diagnosis as per the principles of Homoeopathy.

Special training:

Students are entitled to participate and present tutorials and case presentation which improves clinical skill. Clinical meetings and journal club presentation are integral part of internship programme, which improves over all clinical abilities of every BHMS doctor.

Out Patient Department:

Focus on clinical diagnosis and application of homoeopathic methods clinical diagnosis and treatment. Training imparted to develop the individual skills in diagnosis, prescription, remedy selection and potency selection.

In Patient Department:

Bed side clinical demonstration and trainings given to students in diagnostic skills and treatment.

Medical camps:

Regular medical camps are conducted in villages. The students and interns actively participate in every camp.

CME/Seminars/ Conference participation:

Special emphasis given to the participation of students in National and International conferences/seminars/workshops.

Internship

Special postings given in Vinayaka mission's medial college hospital for specialties like medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry and dermatology.

The department of Repertory plays a pivotal role in promoting Homoeopathic knowledge, impart values among the students and conducting free medical camps to benefit the society.

The purpose of Repertory course is:

• To learn the skills of case taking, analyzing the case at all levels (investigative, diagnostic, applying the principles and methods in Homoeopathy) and following the principles of Repertorisation and Homoeopathy as a whole, serves the purpose of Holistic approach in treating the patient.
• To learn to utilize Information and Communication Technology and adapt it for repertorisation

The department is well equipped with Professor room, theory hall, seminar hall with LCD projector, charts, departmental library for quick reference and upgraded version of important homoeopathic soft-wares. Repertory OPD Unit (M-III), Medical Ward and Peripheral Health centres catering the most advanced technological need of undergraduate students. Its educational environment is stimulating which ensures freedom of thinking and action as well as responsibility.

Academic:

The department of Repertory follows the curriculum and syllabus framed by VMU without compromising the directions of the Central Council of Homoeopathy. Improved teaching & learning methods of repertory at undergraduate level are provided. They learn the art of diagnosis, investigation and treatment under experienced Physicians. The clinical classes are more oriented with skill formation and problem based learning. The interaction with the students with enthusiasm indicates the quality and openness of the academic system provided to the students that would help them to face the challenges of life.

Outpatient services:

The activities of the Repertory unit include general assistance to patients in different dimensions like Case taking, Diagnosing, collection and ordering of investigation reports, Prescription and follow up services. Through Repertory unit, community as a whole is benefited as consultation, basic investigation and treatment are provided by highly qualified and experienced faculty free of cost. To strengthen the clinical knowledge undergraduates are well trained. They are not only trained in handling and treating the patient but also the values to inculcate empathetic attitude is nurtured.

Inpatient Services:

The department focuses at social, economic, therapeutic, rehabilitative, preventive and promotive strategies in Health Care system. undergraduate student learn to evaluate, investigate and manage both acute and chronic cases. Academic Activities:

The study of surgery starts in 2nd year BHMS and Completes in 3rd year BHMS. Surgery includes ENT, Orthopedics & Ophthalmology. During the course of study the student learn about the the most common surgical diseases, the operative procedures, different types of Anaesthesia, the general management of fractures, dressings, the Laboratory & special investigations regarding various surgical diseases.

Outpatient services:

Teaching focuces on surgical diagnosis and surgical proceedures. Being furture Homoeopaths the students are told about the scope and limitations.

Inpatient Services:

Bed side clinical demonstration and trainings given to students in developing system wise diagnostic skill and treating skill.
