Department of Homoeopathic Pharmacy
The Post Graduate Department of Homoeopathic Pharmacy established in the year 2002 provides Teaching & Training in the subject to develop the research awareness of new generation of Homoeopathic Doctors Homoeopathic Pharmaceutical laboratory.
The purpose of MD (Homoeopathy) - Homoeopathic Pharmacy course is to train the Homoeopathic graduate in the field of Homoeopathic Pharmacy to adapt the principles of Homoeopathy while manufacturing good quality drugs to produce excellent outcome in Homoeopathic therapeutics and efficient Teachers & Research scholars in Homoeopathy.
Infrastructure :
It has one of the best faculty and well equipped laboratory. Department has Professor Room, Discussion Room, Seminar Hall with LCD projector, Charts, Departmental Library and Laboratory catering the technological requirements of postgraduate students.
Academic Activities :
The PG scholars are exposed to learning Homoeopathic Pharmacy through structured Discussions, Seminars, Clinical Meetings, Journal club etc… development of skill as a self- directed learner recognizing continuing educational needs with the use of appropriate learning resources is the basic aim. Students prepared Homoeopathic Mother tincture, potencies, Triturations & external applications as part of training skill development.
Speciality Training :
The students are trained in the essentials of the speciality at the Departments of Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacognocy & Pharmaceutical analysis in Vinayaka Mission's College of Pharmacy, Salem where they learn the art of testing & analysing different source material used in Homoeopathic Pharmacy.
Speciality Hospital Training:
In order to combat with the advances of medical diagnostic technology the students receive quality training at Vinayaka Mission's Hi-tech Hospital, Salem in the departments of Paediatrics, Cardiology, Surgery, Neurology, Nephrology, Critical Care Medicine, Orthopaedics and Radiology.
CME/Seminar/Workshop/Conferences:
The department provides a wide opportunity to aspiring students who travel across the country to participate in State, National and International level programme. Continues exposure various thought process make them best among the group.
Industrial Visit:
The department is organising industrial visit for PG students to well known homoeopathic drug manufacturing companies in the country. To upgrade their quality and learn GMP in the industry.
Industrial Training:
The department is permitting the students to attend the training programme at HPL, Ghaziabad. This training will help them to select appropriate manufacturing company in the country.
Herbal Garden:
The department is maintaining 100 native herbal plants which are used in the preparation of Homoeopathic mother tinctures
Herbarium:
The students visit and collect rare plants from CCRH research unit, Ooty and also from other botanical gardens for herbarium.
Placement Programme:
The department adequately train students to be competitive at service examinations and campus placement programme organised by the college to ensure global placement of the students into Government and corporate sectors.
Department of Homoeopathic Materia Medica
The postgraduate department of Homoeopathic Materia Medica established in the year 2002 provides multimodal approach in the field of homoeopathic postgraduation.
The purpose of MD (Homoeopathy) - Materia Medica course is to train the basic homoeopathic graduate in the field of Materia Medica to adapt the principles of homoeopathy while treating the patients, and to produce excellent professionals, teachers and researchers in homoeopathy.
Infrastructure :
Department has a well furnished Department room, HOD room, PG Discussion room and PG Seminar Hall with audio visual aids like overhead projector (OHP), LCD projector and computer.
Academic Education :
During clinical teaching emphasis is given on remedy selection and the management of patients. The curriculum includes clinical meeting, journal club, seminars and discussions. Every Post Graduate student has to present cases treated by them. During clinical meeting Post Graduate from all the departments with professors discuss in detail about the case. It is a forum to share the rich experiences of various academicians. Journal club meeting are organized weekly basis with all Post Graduate students and teachers. Each journal club meeting is unique in itself with various topics. In departmental seminars Post Graduate student has to present pre-planed topics within department, which enhance the knowledge of every students in the Speciality subject. In every discussion there is sharing of knowledge at various levels between the teachers and Post Graduate students.
Speciality Training :
Speciality posting is a great possibility for the post graduate students in vinayaka mission's homoeopathic medical college and hospital. they get posted in various speciality departments like Dermatology, Radiology, Surgery, Nephrology, Orthopedics & Neurology at vinayaka mission's medical college and hospital ,the super speciality hospital provides training in Accident & Emergency medicine,, CT, MRI & Cardio thorasic surgery. Since both the hospitals are within the campus students get immense opportunity to learn the latest of modern medicine. Proper integration of the knowledge with the science of homoeopathy makes them excellent homoeopathic physicians , who are capable of diagnosing the disease as well as prescribing proper medicines. It is necessary for all PG students to treat patient in OPD & IPD under the guidance of teachers.
OPD :
OPD is well equipped and spacious. Post Graduate students are encouraged to examine the patients, do laboratory investigation and prescribe medicines.
IPD :
IPD is well equipped with necessary facilities for ECG & laboratory investigations . There is a working arrangement with vinayaka mission's medical college and hospital lab for every lab investigation.
Peripheral Health Centre:
PG's have been posted every wednesday in vembadithalam peripheral health centre where patients are examined and medicines are prescribed. In case of higher investigation the patients will be referred to college hospital.
Free Medical Camp:
Every year the department conduct free medical camp at rural areas for the benefit of economically poor people. The patients are examined, prescribed and referred to college OPD for further follow-up.
Library :
Department library is well equipped with sufficient text books and other materials like question papers, journals, previous assignments and dissertations.
Homoeopathic Philosophy & Organon of Medicine
The purpose of Homoeopathic Philosophy & Organon of medicine course is to train the basic Homoeopathic graduate in the field of Homoeopathic Philosophy & Organon of medicine to adapt the principles of Homoeopathy while treating the patients, thereby making them excellent professionals in Homoeopathy.
Infrastructure :
The department is well equipped with Professor room and faculty room. There are sufficient charts and department library with good number of books for quick reference. OPD, Medical Ward and Peripheral Health centers are catering the clinical needs of the undergraduate students. Its educational environment is stimulating which ensures freedom of thinking as well as responsibility.
Academic :
The UG students are exposed to learning Organon of medicine & Homoeopathic Philosophy through structured discussions, regular clinical classes and clinical exposure. The programme helps the students to develop skill in homoeopathic clinical practice. Teaching & learning process of Organon of medicine & Homoeopathic Philosophy at undergraduate level provide the art of diagnosis, investigation and treatment under experienced Physicians. The clinical classes are more oriented with skill formation and problem based learning. Internees are conducting and regularly attending clinical meeting & journal club. The academic system provided the students necessary learning to face the challenges of life.
Outpatient services :
The activities of the Organon of medicine & Homoeopathic Philosophy unit include Case taking, Diagnosing, ordering and collecting investigation reports, Prescription and follow up services. The community is benefited as consultation, basic investigation and treatment are provided by highly qualified and experienced faculty free of cost.
Inpatient Services :
Posting in wards enables an undergraduate student to evaluate, investigate and manage both acute and chronic cases. Services rendered in Inpatient department are free and as well as free food is provided for the patients.
Peripheral Health Centres :
The department takes pride in spreading its service to cater to the health, nutrition and educational needs of patients in rural sectors. Internees have been posted in Senaipalayam Peripheral Health Centre on every Thursday, where patients are examined and medicines are prescribed. In case of higher investigations the patients are referred to the college hospital.
Free Medical Camps :
Undergraduates participate actively in medical camps & PHC, this experience will encourage them to work in a rural environment in the future.
Internship Programme:
During one year compulsory internship programme interns get exposed to OPD and IPD and they learn the art of treating cases. In CRRI programme for 6 months students they get posted in homoeopathic hospital and the remaining 6 months they will be posted in various departments of vinayaka mission's medical college and hospital where they get exposed to wide variety of patients in the department of Dermatology, Surgery, Neurology, Orthopedics, Nephrology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Radiology etc. CRRI's are presenting and attending clinical meeting and journal clubs every week under the guidance of teachers in the department.
Department of Paediatrics
The postgraduate department of Paediatrics established in the year 2002 provides Multimodal approach in the field of Paediatrics for budding homoeopathic post-graduates.
The purpose of MD (Homoeopathy) - Paediatrics course is to train the basic Homoeopathic graduate in the field of Paediatrics to adapt the principles of Homoeopathy in treating and preventing disorders in children thereby ensuring a healthy child in the society and to produce excellent professionals, teachers and researchers in the field of Homoeopathic paediatrics.

Super Speciality Training:
In order to combat with the advances of medical education the students receive high quality training at Department of Paediatrics, Vinayaka Mission's Hi-tech Hospital, Salem under Paediatric surgeons, Cardiothoracic surgeons, General Surgeons, Neurologists, Nephrologists, Critical care medicine, Orthopedicians and Radiologists.
Outpatient services:
The activities of the Paediatric unit include general assistance to Paediatric patients in different dimensions like reception, registration, Case taking, Diagnosing, collection and ordering of investigation reports, Prescription and follow up services. The health care services are extended by patient data collection, data entry, assisting in referral to higher Medical centres, contacting the treated patients for follow up by letter writing or telephone enquiry to know the current health status.
Inpatient Services:
The department focuses at social, economic, therapeutic, rehabilitative, preventive and promotive strategies in Paediatric Health Care system. Sufficient beds are allocated for inpatient admission to Paediatric wards which enables a postgraduate student to evaluate, investigate and manage both acute and chronic manifestations of children.
Peripheral Health Centres:
The department takes pride in spreading its service to two Panchayat Union Primary Schools at Rakkipatty and Pudupalayam to cater to the health, nutrition and educational needs of school children in rural sectors.
Screening Camps:
To organize and manage all inner strength of a student to be able to confidently move towards their goals the department travels to Primary Schools to screen children for diseases, nutritional deficiencies, environmental hazards and educational needs.
Free Medical Camps:
The Department organises free homoeopathic Medical Camps at the most rural sectors making the health system available at the door step of every common child.
Voluntary service:
Visualizing the needs of the society the department involves itself in campaigns such as Pulse polio Awareness programme, World Breast Feeding Week Programme, World Nutritional Week and AIDS Awareness rally.
CME/seminar/workshop/conferences:
The department provides a wide opportunity to aspiring students who travel across the country to participate in state level, national and International level programmes enhancing their knowledge with the art of prescription.
Health Education:
The students take care in informing, motivating and guiding children in establishing personal hygiene, nutritional deficiencies, Immunization protocols, infrastructure of health services, community development programme, Education and Placement guidance.

The department adequately train students to be competitive at service examinations and campus placement programme organised by the college to ensure global placement of the students into Government and corporate sectors.
Department of Practice of Medicine
The postgraduate department of Practice of medicine established in the year 2002 provides Post Graduate training to the students.
Post graduates in practice of medicine are trained by giving special concentration in both general and systemic medicine. Students were being taught by eminent teachers from both Homoeopathic and Allopathic faculties. .
Infrastructure :
Includes Professor room, discussion room, seminar hall with LCD projector, charts, model specimens and department library. Department is bestowed with eminent teachers to guide the students. Medicine OPD Unit, and Peripheral Health centers catering the clinical needs of postgraduate students.
Academic Education :
All subjects are taught by eminent Professors from the Homoeopathic and Allopathic Medical college faculty. Topics are covered in allopathic as well as homoeopathic perspectives. Topics are divided systematically for Part I & Part II course separately. special care is given towards the diagnostic skills of the candidates. Students are made to present cases and various topics in the form of clinical meetings, seminars and journal club presentation to improve teaching skills and clinical skills.
Speciality Training:
Special postings given in Vinayaka missions medial college hospitals under specialties like medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry, orthopedics, obstetrics, gynecology, ENT and in operative procedures. The students are constantly exposed to the investigation procedures like CT, MRI, ultrasound, radiology, and they also posted in clinical laboratory. The specialty training is tailored to make best out of the abilities of the each student. Students are regularly posted in out patient department for improving their clinical diagnostic skills and upgrading the homoeopathic prescribing abilities. They are encouraged to manage cases in OPD. It is mandatory for each student to collect sufficient number of cases (not less than 30 cases) from OPD, peripheral health centers and special camps for dissertation work.
Super Speciality Training:
Post graduate students receive high quality training at Vinayaka Mission's Hi-tech Hospital, Salem. They are getting posted under Intensive Care unit, Surgery, Neurology, Nephrology, Orthopaedics, Radiology and in emergency medicines..
Outpatient services:
The activities of the Medicine unit include general assistance to patients, like reception, registration, Case taking, Diagnosing, ordering and collection of investigation reports. Special interest is given to the process of repertorization. We encourage the students to evolve the miasmatic totality in every patient. Students are allowed to do prescription and follow up under the proper guidance. The health care services are extended by patient data collection, data entry, assisting in referral to higher medical centers, contacting the treated patients for follow up by letter or telephone enquiry to know the current health status.
Inpatient Services:
Each student is entrusted with beds in IPD. They have given graded responsibility in the treatment of patients in IPD. Clinical exposure in the IPD is mandatory for creating best physicians out of every student..
Peripheral Health Centres:
The department extends its service in to two peripheral centres at Neikarrapatti and Vallalar madam respectively.
Free Medical Camps:
The Department organises free homoeopathic Medical Camps periodically at the most rural areas making the health system perfect.

Department of Psychiatry
The postgraduate department of Psychiatry established in the year 2002 provides Multimodal approach in the field of Homoeopathic postgraduation to young Psychiatrists.
The purpose of MD (Homoeopathy) - Psychiatry course is to train the basic Homoeopathic graduate in the field of Psychiatry to adapt the principles of Homoeopathy while treating psychiatry patients, and to produce excellent professionals, teachers and researchers in Homoeopathy.

Special postings :
PG students are posted in National Institute of Mental Health And Neurosciences (NIMHANS) for one month in department of child and adult psychiatry. They also were trained by specialist in case taking , diagnosing , management and counselling psychiatry patients in outpatient and inpatients setup .

Department of Repertory
The postgraduate department of Repertory established in the year 2002 provides Multimodal approach in the field of Homoeopathic post graduation.
The purpose of MD (Homoeopathy) - Repertory course is:
- To train the basic Homoeopathic graduate into an advance learner of Repertory.
- Master most of the competencies related to case taking, analyzing the case at all levels (investigative, diagnostic, applying the principles and methods in Homoeopathy) and following the principles of Repertorisation and Homoeopathy.
- As a whole serves the purpose of Holistic approach in treating the patient.
- To produce excellent professionals, teachers and researchers in Homoeopathy.

The department is well equipped with Professor room, discussion room, seminar hall with LCD projector, charts, departmental library for quick reference and upgraded version of important homoeopathic soft-wares. Repertory OPD Unit (M-IIIPg), Medical Ward and Peripheral Health centres catering the most advanced technological need of postgraduate students. Its educational environment is stimulating which ensures freedom of thinking and action as well as responsibility.
Academic Education :

The department of Repertory follows the curriculum and syllabus framed by VMU without compromising the directions of the Central Council of Homoeopathy. The clinical classes are more oriented with skill formation and problem based learning. Super Speciality Training:
In order to combat with the advances of medical education the students receive high quality training at Vinayaka Mission's Hi-tech Hospital, Salem under various departments like Cardiology, Surgery, Neurology, Nephrology, Critical care medicine, Orthopaedics, dermatology and Radiology.
Outpatient services:
The activities of the Repertory unit include general assistance to patients in different dimensions like Case taking, Diagnosing, collection and ordering of investigation reports, Prescription and follow up services. Through Repertory unit, community as a whole is benefited as consultation, basic investigation and treatment are provided by highly qualified and experienced faculty free of cost.
